The course consists of flying lessons with qualified instructors, and a minimum of 60 hours of ground school where the following subjects are covered:
   
  • Principles of Flight
  • Aviation Law
  • Air Traffic Rules and Services
  • Airframes and Engines
  • Aircraft Instruments
  • Fire, First Aid and Safety Equipment
  • Human Performance and Limitations
  • Air Navigation
  • Aviation Meteorology
  • Radio Telephony

 

Also included is the official BMAA syllabus, Microlight Pilot's Handbook by Brian Cosgrove, and Air Law for Microlight Pilots by Geoff Weighell.

A one year student membership to Island Microlight Club is also automatically given free to all students starting the NPPL course.


Restricted License

A minimum of 15 hours flight training of which 7 must be done solo.

If you already own a microlight aircraft and want to use it for your flight training, no problem! Course fees are obviously much less.
