Walking on Air

Walking on Air
Description: Here are some of my pics taken of my gliding adventure at the Scottish Gliding Union, Kinross, Fife. Gliders are mainly sailplanes, aircraft without engines, their basic concept is to catapult them in the air and the pilot heads the glider in to the path of a termal winds that are caused via very hilly terrain. Once the weather is permitting and the right winds are there, than one is ready to fly like a bird on top of the hills, hence gliding with the winds.

The Scottish Gliding Union has an adapted twin seater glider, pupil in front and the instructor at the back seat, this adapted glider was bought and set up with the intention to enable the disabled the same opportunity to fly and feel free in the air and enjoy the joy of flying, albeit the disability. I actually had to put on a parachute, (the red pack on my back), as a safety precaution. I was then hoisted into the front seat, harnessed to the instructors satisfaction, tried the control column and he briefed me about the instrument panel and basic concept of gliding and was ready to go....but before all this happened I signed concept forms, gave them a clean bill of health and another form signing my concent not to sue them in case any damage to myself is caused whilst being hoisted into the cockpit.
