Our glider was attached to a cable on the far side of the field and launch was set off, once the glider started to lift off the ground the instructor pulled back the stick and the nose pointed vertically racing towards the sky.
Adrelinin was racing high too and once we reached about a thousand feet, the back seater released the cable and suddenly you feel gravity says hello pulling the whole lot down. The experienced instructor put his skills to use and gently headed us towards the hill to circle and enjoy the ride. Peter let me have the controls a few times and the concept was to push the stick forward and let the glider nose down and feel the thermal winds below give the aircraft a new lease of flight, pulling the stick gaining height to continue flight without the power of an engine. |
