...is to help people enjoy flying. We are a non-profitable club, which means that every club member digs in to help and make the club a better place to be in.
Club ProfileThe Island Microlight Club is the first Microlight Club on the Maltese Islands. The new sport of microlight flying was first introduced to us by Capt. Alex Dalli and Capt. Mark Said, who are both professional pilots with the Armed Forces of Malta. They are also the founders of the Island Microlight Club. Ever since their first flight, Alex and Mark have not overcome the thrill of flying. They decided to "hand on" this thrill of flying to others who had never thought could be able to pilot an aircraft! We are also proud to say that the Island Microlight Club is a proud member of the British Microlight Aircraft Association(BMAA) and the Malta Aviation Museum Foundation(MAMF). We operate from Luqa International Airport. This gives us use of 4 runways, these being 24/06 and 32/14. Wind is hardly ever a problem since the runways point in all directions. Since all flying is done in Class D airspace, the student is also thought good radio telephony skills and procedures.
