The Island Microlight Club is the first Microlight Club on the Maltese
Islands. The new sport of microlight flying was first introduced to us
by Maj. Alex Dalli and Maj. Mark Said, who are both professional pilots
with the Armed Forces of Malta. They are also the founders of the Island
Microlight Club.
Ever since their first flight, Alex and Mark have not overcome their
thrill of flying. They decided to "hand down" this thrill of flying to
others who had never thought they could be able to pilot an aircraft!
We are also proud to say that Island Microlight Club is a member of the
following organizations:
the
British Microlight Aircraft Association (BMAA)
the
European Microlight Federation
(EMF)
the
Malta Aviation Museum Foundation (MAMF)
We operate from Luqa International Airport. This gives us use of 4
runways, these being 23/05 and 31/13. Wind is hardly ever a problem
since the runways point in all directions. Since all flying is done in
Class D airspace, the student is also taught good radio telephony skills
and procedures. |
